Day 1: Cape Town

08:00 Collection from the Southern
Sun Waterfront Hotel for a tour of the Cape Town.
After breakfast depart for a visit to Table Mountain and Robben Island
(weather permitting). Overnight in Cape Town.
[If the weather is bad we will visit the VOC
Cape Castle, Signal Hill, Waterfront Aquarium and the National Museum in
the Company Gardens.]

Day 2: Cape Town
|
|
09:00 Collection from your hotel for a tour of the Cape Peninsula. We follow the coastline southwards, traveling via trendy Camps Bay and the quaint seaside village of Hout Bay.
One highlight of this tour is a visit to Cape Point.
We will go for a wine tasting at Steenberg Vineyards.
Lunch is served at the Two Oceans Restaurant at Cape Point.
We will follow the coastline northwards via
Simons town, where we visit the penguin colony of Boulders Beach. We return to the city via the leafy southern suburbs.
Overnight in
Cape Town. LDBB

Day 3:
West Coast
|
|
We will depart at 07:00 am from your hotel on the N7 to the Mission Station at Mamre and the lovely town of Darling for a tee stop, and then on to Yzerfontein along the coast. Next we will visit the West Coast National Park,
Langebaan and
Saldanha Bay. We enjoy a seafood lunch in Langebaan. In the afternoon we will visit the Dinosaur Fossil Park. We will return to Cape Town.

Day 4:
Franschhoek
|
|
This morning we depart Cape Town and drive to the Cape Wine lands, with its
backdrop of majestic mountain ranges and lush valleys. We stop for tasting
at wineries en route to the Franschhoek Valley where we visit the
memorial to the French Huguenots, who sought refuge from religious
persecution in Europe and settled here in the late seventeenth century.
Nowadays Franschhoek is known as the gourmet capital of South Africa. We will go for wine tasting at Carbriere Estate
and the Moreson Wine Farm.
We will have lunch at the Le Quartier Français Restaurant has
been rated by Restaurant Magazine in London as one of the world’s 50
Best Restaurants.
A scenic drive over the Helshoogte Pass (Hell’s Heights) takes us to
Stellenbosch, the “town of oaks” and South Africa’s second oldest
town. We check into Lanzerac Manor. Your hotel is a 300 year old wine
estate that is set in one of the most breathtaking vistas of the world.
The rooms are decorated with period and antique furniture; the colors that
predominate are gold and yellows. Overnight in Stellenbosch. LDBB

Day 5:
Stellenbosch
|
|
Today we will go for wine tasting at
the Lanzerac Estate. The estate’s master winemaker, Wynand Hamman, has created
some exceptional wines, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon,
Merlot and Pinotage fill the cellars. Tonight we enjoy a four course meal
with a complimentary glass of white and red wine. We will go
for a walking tour in Stellenbosch. Overnight in
Stellenbosch. LDBB

Day 6:
Hermanus
|
|
We will depart at 08:00 from Stellenbosch. We will travel along the east coast via Gordon's Bay, Rooi Els and Betty's Bay to Hermanus. We will visit the Herold Porter Nature Reserve for a tee stop and a walk in this
wonderful garden. We will enjoy lunch and wine tasting in Hermanus. We will return to Cape Town via Grabouw on the N2. We will return to Cape Town.
Drop off at the Southern
Sun Waterfront.

Although personal tastes differ we suggest you pack:
Comfortable brown or beige or kaki color casual cloths that included: Long trousers, shorts, underwear, tracksuits, light walking shoes, long socks,
5 light shirts, long-sleeved shirt, sweater, bathing costume, light rainproof jacket or anorak and hat.
Smart-casual clothes for eveningwear, although a few up-market destinations will expect something more formal.
Essential Equipment:
Water bottle, personal toiletries, lip balm, sunscreen SPF 30+, insect repellent, waterproof copy of ID document / passport / plain tickets.

Prescription medications:
Make sure you have enough to last during your trip, as well as a copy of the prescription's.
Over-the-counter anti-diarrhea medicine (just in case!) if you think you'll have trouble finding a pharmacy on your trip.
Visa or MasterCard credit card and/or Travelers Cheques - Diners and American Express are not always accepted. Keep travel documents in a safe place - many airlines no longer resubmit lost tickets and require a police affidavit if you want to avoid paying the full fare for their replacement.

Cape Food - Bobotie:
|
Bobotie is a sweet curry mince dish set in an egg custard traditionally served on yellow rice, but is delicious with Basmati too.
Ingredients:
Oil
1 slice of white bread soaked in milk
2 onions, chopped finely
2 t crushed garlic
500g topside mince
15 ml curry powder
2 ml salt
2t Chutney
2t brown vinegar
2t Worchester Sauce
2t Tumeric
2t Brown sugar
100 ml sultanas
2 eggs beaten separately
1 cup milk with a pinch of Tumeric
Method:
Heat oven to 180 deg C. Fry onions in oil. Add mince and brown.
Add the curry powder and other spices.
When well browned, remove from the heat.
Mix in the Sultana’s and one beaten egg and the soggy bread.
Spoon into a greased oven dish.
Mix the milk and second egg together.
Pour over the mince mixture.
Arrange some bay leaves on the surface.
Bake for 45 minutes.
